At Ivy House, we believe every child deserves a safe, nurturing place during times of family crisis. As a Trauma-Informed Childcare Specialist, you'll provide compassionate, trauma-informed care for children from birth through age 10 while their families address challenges such as medical emergencies, domestic violence, housing instability, mental health concerns, or other stressful life events.

Our role is simple but powerful: to provide children with safety, comfort, and consistency while giving families the support and peace of mind they need to move forward.

What You'll Do

- Provide attentive, developmentally appropriate care for infants and children through age 10.

- Create a safe, calm, and nurturing environment where every child feels welcomed, secure, and cared for.

- Use trauma-informed practices to respond to children's emotional and behavioral needs with patience, empathy, and consistency. 

- Build trusting relationships through play, encouragement, positive interactions, and predictable routines.

- Support children's social, emotional, and developmental well-being through engaging, age appropriate activities.

- Work collaboratively with the Ivy House team to ensure exceptional care for every child and family.

- Maintain accurate documentation and follow all licensing, safety, and confidentiality requirements


Qualifications

We're looking for individuals who have experience working with children and a heart for serving families.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

- Trauma-informed childcare

- Foster care or kinship care

- Crisis nurseries or emergency childcare

- Residential treatment or shelter programs

- Early childhood education

- Behavioral health or mental health services

- Child welfare or family support services

- Special Education or developmental disabilities services

Additional Qualifications include:

- Experience caring for children from birth-age 10

- Understanding of, or willingness to learn, trauma-informed care practices.

- Ability to remain calm, patient, and supportive during emotionally challenging situations.

- Strong communication and teamwork skills

- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.

- Ability to successfully complete required background checks.


Schedule

This is a flexible, part-time position with non-traditional hours. Shifts may include daytime, evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or overnight coverage based on the needs of the program with your availability in mind.

This role is ideal for college students, retirees, substitute teachers, healthcare professionals, early childhood educators, and others seeking meaningful supplemental employment with a flexible schedule.
